Karl-Johan Svanlund is a leading expert in glycol treatment and recycling. He has been involved in the design, development, and implementation of glycol treatment and recycling facilities at multiple airports in Europe and North America, including Stockholm Arlanda, Warsaw Chopin, Montreal-Trudeau, and Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier.

Some of the concepts employed in these projects are spent fluid collection procedures, filtration/evaporation technologies, distillation, quality management procedures for distilled glycol, on-site blending, and quality management procedures. Their benefits include reducing disposal of effluent, reducing environmental impacts (including storm water pollution), and reducing greenhouse gas emissions from transportation. Karl was also technically responsible for an automated aircraft wash robot.

​Karl holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Örebro University, where he also studied law and labour code. He holds an engine rating for ships from Kalmar Maritime Academy.
